FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Organized by what you're actually trying to do. Can't find it here? Contact us or message a teller from your portal.

Getting started

How long does account opening take?
Registration takes about five minutes. Identity verification is usually reviewed within one business day, and you can use limited features on your account while it's pending.

Is there a minimum balance?
No. Everyday Checking and Horizon Savings both have no minimum balance requirement, and neither charges a monthly maintenance fee regardless of balance.

Can I open more than one account?
Yes — most customers hold both a checking and a savings account, and you can open additional accounts, including a Term Certificate or a second savings account, anytime from your portal without reapplying.

Do I need good credit to open an account?
No credit check is required for Everyday Checking, Horizon Savings, or Term Certificates. Our Rolamb Visa Rewards card and personal loans do require one, since they extend credit rather than hold your deposit.

Moving money

How do international wires work?
Wires settle in 1–2 business days for a flat $25 fee, and are automatically reviewed if sent to a first-time payee or above $2,000 — most holds clear within a few hours.

Why was my transfer held?
Large transfers, first-time payees, and unusual activity get an automatic review before they clear, not after. It's the same fraud process described on our Security Center page, and most holds resolve the same day.

Can I schedule a recurring transfer?
Yes, from the Transfers page in your portal. Recurring transfers run on the schedule you set until you cancel them, and each one still posts to your ledger in real time.

Is there a limit on how much I can transfer?
Everyday transfers between your own Rolamb accounts have no limit. Transfers to outside accounts and international wires are capped per transaction for fraud-prevention reasons; contact support if you need a one-time exception for something larger.

Cards & security

What happens if a transaction is flagged?
It's held, not declined outright. You'll see it on your dashboard with the reason it was flagged, and can confirm or dispute it directly — no phone call required.

Can I freeze my own card?
Yes, instantly, from the Cards page in your portal. Freezing blocks new transactions immediately but keeps the card active for when you unfreeze it — useful if you've just misplaced it, as opposed to a lost or stolen card, which should be reported as blocked instead.

What's the difference between freezing and blocking a card?
Freezing is temporary and reversible — use it if you think you've just misplaced the card. Blocking is permanent; use it if the card is actually lost or stolen, and request a replacement afterward.

Do you offer a credit card?
Yes — the Rolamb Visa Rewards card earns cash back with no annual fee. Full details, including the debit-vs-credit comparison, are on the credit card page.

Account management

Can I close an account later?
Anytime, with no fee, as long as the balance is settled first. Closing takes effect immediately once the balance reaches zero.

I forgot my password — what do I do?
Use the "Forgot password" link on the login page. For security, resetting a password always requires re-verifying with a one-time code sent to your registered contact method.

Can I bank with Rolamb if I don't live in the US?
Account eligibility currently requires US residency, consistent with our Terms of Service. If you relocate within the US, your account and history move with you — no need to reapply.
